Work Day and VBS

During our team training we were tentatively told that we could be doing concrete work in the two new Sunday school classrooms.  Once we got to the project we learned that until now they have been using rooms in the house of Pastor Lillian’s sister.   However, in anticipation of our arrival the project team worked very hard and had the classrooms structurally finished – so we were on painting duty.

It was so rewarding to do something visible at the site.  It also ended up being a huge blessing that we were able to do something less strenuous so we could be more energetic for the children when the team led VBS in the afternoon.  We were humbled by the opportunity to educate and entertain over 100 children with a team theme of God loves you.  The bible lesson team engaged the children by enlisting their participation to perform a skit of The Prodigal Son.  Crafts used John 3:16to make praying hands.  And the games team showered the children in love playing with a parachute and balls.

And as if that wasn’t enough, Parker and Raquel went above and beyond to schedule additional home visits for sponsored children that were not visited the day before.  The most amazing of which was their ability to schedule a home visit with Mark’s child, who he sponsored in country!  God is good.

Up next…a visit to a more established project (aka. CDC), Fun Day and a trip to Compassion Bolivia.
Special prayer request for team health, as some are being affected by the long days and elevation sickness.
